  1. This is a surprisingly good DVD player. It plays both pre-recorded DVDs and home very well. The picture quality is very good.

features that I do not see a player far more costly — such as USB and SD Card Reader Save this — a lot of time and effort.

    Well worth the money!

  2. I have owned) Philips DVP642 (4 years, who was also able to play DivX, but it was not very happy. After he retired, I decided to try a different brand, but as an update of the new Philips. Coby DVD208 made me proud.

Many great benefits and many against minors:
    1) most of Mpeg4 video game that I wanted. Also play MJPG (digicam most uses this). However, he could not play 720p HD Mpeg4 I did. Did not have time to investigate why. I just play *. rar, not *. mov and others, but that’s to be expected. I’m a PC, Mac is not, so this does not affect much. There are a lot of software to convert the market *. *. MOV, AVI.
    2) E ‘can read *. srt subtitle file when playing mpeg4. Is not read *. Sub. Font color of subtitles, but is not configurable and difficult to read.
    3) playback from USB or SD end, even the SDHC support (mine is 8GB) ATTENTION: You need an SD card to put on the head! I was trying to push it in the usual way, and is almost completely gone, but I had to use pliers to pull them out.
    4) can change the region or region free
    5) has the function of auto resume, he can play at one time shot where you have disabled
    6) The remote has a reset button to reset everything to factory settings. I have my programmable remote and turn off this feature scary. Also, make sure that the remote has a learning function. It is not possible for the use of a generic programmable remote control with this.
    7) when the SD card also contains images and video, is not an option for both pictures and videos at the same time for a combined to play the slideshow. Did you choose one way or another.
    8) E ‘economic Got Mine for about $ 40

I hope some of Coby firmware upgrade to correct the future version to add more functions and some its minor flaws. Overall I’m very happy. Just see how long it will take.

  3. I bought the Coby DVD298 DVD player cheaper for its 1080p upscaling of standard DVDs to 1080p, as for its ability to be easily broken to a region of all DVD players. But the fear for those who do not need to have and just need a player that their standard DVDs for their hi-def HDTV is not – as long as it is not the best 1080p Upconverting DVD player I have ever seen (that would be The SD900 Toshiba, which is breathtaking!), is still very good, which is cheap and easy to use.

For those who want a DVD to see the world, although it seems to be the DVD298. It plays both NTSC and PAL DVDs right out of the door – but as anyone who bought an external DVD, and I tried to get to know players in the United States to play, there is a small, which put the movie industry to all the DVDs as “region code” that will make it impossible. However, some DVD producers (as Coby) players who are in a factory of the world, then write to the region coding of the software, since they have to build a lower cost than hardware limitation region. These can be cut into region-free, and as such players, including the DVD298 can be found with a simple Google search. After you’ve done, you can play DVDs from anywhere in the world and view it – the adventures of spying BBC films and Japanese horror thriller Indonesian Italian martial arts movies, all available in the United States is unclear.

The DVD298 also has the capacity, a USB disk or plug the SD card and try to hear both pictures, MP3s, or watch video files downloaded from online. I have not had much luck MP4 watch video podcasts in this way, even if I have the music and popular – and my friend with the same model has been very present their ability to “video on the Internet impressed.”

The biggest mistake, as others have pointed out, is that it is the nature of the wind built-in, as you might expect from a deal, a DVD player. But put them on his shelf, rather than the stacks of DVD players and monitors up and down, and you should have no problems.

When the opportunity to see videos from around the world and have also regularly watch the video of “hi-def” want on your HDTV, Coby DVD298, I can highly recommend.

  4. Husband and I bought because of Divx, USB, additional functions. After one week, we decided to give it back (Amazon fortunately does return so easy). Here are the problems we had in our week of ownership: (1), after colliding with a pause the audio is out of sync with the image, (2) no apparent reason and without consistency, start, jump – DVD picture “” Playing in a detached rather easily. It will only happen in the middle of a DVD. At first we thought that maybe the DVD was scratched, not cleaned, etc., but then we realized, a DVD would play a beautiful day and the next day the same DVD will be in the same place, start the Goth “. USB seems to work everything was normal, but too much $ $, or even play DVDs on a DVD player.

  5. This is a very nice product at a reasonable price. I was looking for a DVD player that plays DivX files, and not let the DVD player. Reads from USB flash drives and SD cards. I was not even aware that there is an HDMI output, so I was really impressed. So if you’re in the market for a divx player I suggest you get there. My only complaint would be the DVD player looks cheaply made and looks very fragile.
